Caramoan Peninsula
Places to see in caramoan:
- Gota Beach (white sand beach, view deck of shoreline)
- Matukad Island (hidden lagoon, white sand beach, rock climbing, excellent view of lagoon and shoreline)
- Bichara/Lohos Island (stretch of fine white sand beach between two rock formations)
- Tayak Lagoon (big lagoon, white sand beach)
- Talib Lagoon (big lagoon, rock climbing, cliff diving, deep yet clear water with corals)
- Pitogo Bay (islands with caves)
- Sabitan Laya Island (long stretch of white sand beach with rock formations)
- Manapot River / Umang Cave (short treck to a very big cave)
- Bulang Bugang (underground fresh water spring)
How to get there:
- from manila, you can take a peñafrancia or philtranco bus from the cubao (alimall) terminal direct to sabang (630 pesos) or since there are only a few direct trips to sabang, you can take a bus to naga (550 pesos) then take a van to sabang (60 pesos). this takes about 8-10 hours
- from sabang, take a boat to caramoan (100 pesos). this would take less than 2 hours
- from the caramoan port, take a 20 min jeepney ride (10 pesos) to sentro, the town proper.
- at sentro you can find accommodations, food and make arrangements for beach and island hopping trips. most people we asked at sentro would recommend gota beach which is just a tricycle ride away, but there is really more to see in caramoan so make sure you go island hopping.
- if you don't know anyone from caramoan, we highly recommend that you go to the mayor's office and ask for help. they are very accommodating and if you're lucky (like us) they'll even find someone to show you around. In our case, they arranged the island hopping tour (2,ooo pesos for the whole group which includes 2 days of island hopping, gas for the banca, transfer from sentro to paniman port, and 3 bantay dagat tour guides/rescue team
