when in palawan...
make sure you ask for Senith Pabli... probably the best tour guide ever. get her and she'll see to it that you'll have the best of everything...
Accomodations:
well, we've only tried one but if you're low on budget, try Casa Linda this will probably give you the best value for money. only 5 min away from the airport, and just a tricycle ride away from everything else at puerto princesa.
Resorts:
for a 1.5K day trip package, try Dos Palmas. the package comes complete with boat ride to and from the wharf, buffet lunch, marine gear rental, speed boat ride to snokling sites and use of kayaks, this should complete your palawan experince

meg goes cooking
posted September 14, 2004 at 01:33 PM
This past May, when I decided to go on sabbatical I wrote that I needed a break because:
I had no perspective on anything, I was so deep into my world of weblogs and tech that I didn't have much sense of what was going on outside of my geek circles... I've been burning my candle at both ends for years now, and decided it was time to stop. Emotionally I was drained. Physically I was drained.
But that wasn't the full truth of it,because there was something I'd been feeling that I wasn't quite able to admit. It's taken me several months of time away from computers and tech and geeks to accept the fact that computers and technology are not my passion.
My interest in the web and tech was always more about people. With weblogs, it was making it possible for everyone to write online and share and communicate. And while I was doing it, I really did care very deeply about my work -- the products we were creating, the people for whom they were built, and the people who worked with me to build them. As my career progressed, I pushed myself to be more visible as a technology speaker, dabbled at freelance writing, and started another tech company. But something was always missing, and I've realized that was true passion for what I was doing.
So last night I ended my sabbatical and began my new career doing something I've always felt passionate about: cooking. I'm working in the kitchen of a restaurant called Fifty-Six Union here on Nantucket.Yesterday at 3 PM I put on my black chef's clogs, my black pants and white t-shirt, pulled my Red Sox cap over my hair and got to work peeling and deveining shrimp. Seven hours later, sweatily scrubbing the kitchen floors, I was still smiling.
I've learned a lot this summer during my sabbatical but it all can be summarized in three words: follow your heart.

the balanghai
the balanghai is today's featured cityshot at ClickTheCity
THE boat-like structure cuts a majestic figure on the water’s surface. Its three sails—massive triangular forms of steel and fiberglass in hues of yellow and orange—sway ever so slightly with the breeze. As the wind blows, two oar-like shapes at the tips of each sail dip into the pool, seeming to propel the entire vessel to some unknown destination. But there it stays, a vision that is fixed yet moving at the same time.
This is the Balanghai, the “crown jewel” of the Bonifacio Art Foundation Inc.’s public art collection. Conceptualized and designed by Gerry Leonardo, the sculpture, with a height of approximately nine meters and a length of eight meters, is named after the native boat balanghay which supposedly carried the first settlers to Philippine shores.
Named the grand prize winner in BAFI’s first public art competition held in 1997, Leonardo’s work recently sailed to its permanent location at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, Metro Manila, capping years of meticulous construction.-taken from www.artscentralmanila.com
